This antique boxwood chess set features a 3 1/2" (9.0 cm) king piece and dates back to the 1880s. It comes in its original box, making it a rare find for collectors of vintage/Antique chess sets. The black king has an age split, as shown in the images, but this does not effect the game and is commensurate with age and usage. The cream Knight top is lose and I hesitated in glueing it together. Perhaps more knowledgeable and handy person can fix it without losing its character. These set pieces are in their original pieces and have not been tampered with in anyway. Please note this listing is for the chess pieces only and the chessboard and the surrounding display ornaments do NOT come with the set.
